"The site is integrated with both the Tourism New Zealand feed and the BookIt booking engine, allowing visistors to browse and book with ancillary providers. You could say that, apart from the actual cycling part, all the work is done for you!"terabyte senior developer
New Zealand has some of the world’s best cycle trails, attracting large numbers of visitors. Tourism New Zealand has undertaken detailed research on this particular demographic and it continues to be a focus for 2015-2016.
RideNZ is doing great work by informing and attracting cycling enthusiasts, domestic and international, from novice to expert. Partnering with Regional Tourism Operators Tourism Bay of Plenty, Hamilton and Waikato Tourism, Destination Rotorua, Destination Coromandel, Visit Ruapehu, Destination Great Lake Taupo, Tourism Eastland and Hawkes Bay Tourism, this website allows visitors to explore cycle trails in the Central North Island across several regions. There are a lot of trails to choose from (we had no idea!) and levels of experience range from families to expert riders, so several filters are in place to allow interested viewers to choose by experience, region and preferred length.
Terabyte jumped at the chance to build a brand new and bespoke itinerary builder. Trail selection is the first step. Hours of fun can be had viewing various trails which hold a depth of information including a general description of the trail, distance, altitude, experience level and insider tips.
Like that trail? Add it to your personalised itinerary. Once complete, view your itinerary and see what your total trail duration and distance is. Keep adding trails, or for those who tend to bite off more than they can chew, remove! Your personal itinerary also provides information on other trails in the area, places to stay along the way, events and activities - and the interactive map comes complete with nearby cafes and comfort stops.
